The Return

Waiting for a sign
I’m made to watch the skies
For the return
Of my long lost love
Years passed since the day
That we were left behind
To survive
In this barren land
Since you went away
The earth has healed again
And we’re stronger than once before
If you come to my side
Unlikely as it seems
You will not rule us any more

If you return
To me
You’ll serve us for all of time

Then from the skies hellfire falls
Like a star in the night
The dust clears from the descent
Hopes and fears come to life

There on burning ground
The ark that holds my heart
It’s cargo safe and sound
But will they come in peace?

Fear not beloved one
I’ve come back to take my place
To reign supreme once again
I’ve returned
