Stary Z Hory, Co Zver Svoju Budzoganem Pobil

Malokarpatan

Band/Artist: Malokarpatan

Album: Stridzie Dni

Na horném konci
u čiertaže hory
Žil kedys' jeden odlud
Čo ženy ni ratolescí jakživ nemal
Zvesci o nem nésli sa krajem
Že s čertáma a zlobohma
v jedném spolku je
A všelikeré strigónstva
za temravy stvára
Však ožran to bol veliký též
i surovec pluhavý
Ked špiritus rozum mu pomúcil
V maštali zver svoju budzogánem pobil
Volou krvou
kamenný kruh v bralách potrel
'By besov na poradu zvolal
Tak za jedného večera
nadobro sa prepadel
Kerési staruchy vraveli
že kosodreviny jeho kosci zdobili
Iné, že striga do jamy ho vlúdzila
a zem sa nad ním uzavrela

English:
THE OLD MAN FROM THE WOODS, WHO SLAYED HIS LIVESTOCK WITH A MACE
At the upper end
near the border of the woods
There once lived an old sourpuss
Never did he have a wife nor children
Rumours about him roamed the land
That he is in alliance with devils and evil spirits
and practices all kinds of witchcraft in the dark
But he was also a great drunkard and a nasty brute
When liquor obscured his reason,
he has beaten his livestock with a mace inside the barn
Painted a stone circle in the hills with ox blood
To call the spirits for a council
On one evening
he suddenly vanished completely
Some old women said that his bones
adorned the dwarf pines
Others said a witch lured him into the pit
and the earth locked up above him
